On the road again!
This week, the President will be on the road again. He cannot sell Healthcare, he cannot sell the stimulus and he cannot sell his liberal agenda, because he cannot create jobs!
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 28% of the nation’s voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty –three percent strongly disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential approval index rating of -15. That is a negative.
While the Democrats are saying, just wait, the polls are tightening in our favor, they are out of ammunition, when it comes to the economy, healthcare and spending. The 20% that are still favoring this president are a make up of minority and left wing liberals who will support a Democrat, no matter what.
My prediction for the fall midterms are: The Republicans will take the House by 85 seats and will take the Senate by 1 seat. I base this prediction on two things: what people have told me and by what the trends over the last two months have been.
This week, the president will talk about giving the middle class tax breaks while giving the wealthy a tax hike. He quoted Albert Einstein and Al Franken. The Einstein quote was about insanity, implying the Republicans will try the old formula that got us into the mess. Remember Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results.” I am positive that the president would try the same things over again and would again double the deficit and that is the problem, it’s insane. The Franken quote, well it’s Al Franken what can I say.
The big thing to consider in this year’s election is that the Democrats do not want to talk about is re-districting. This happens every 10 years, after the census results are taken. The formal term for redistricting is known as gerrymandering. The word gerrymander (originally written Gerry-mander) was used for the first time in the Boston Gazette newspaper on March 26, 1812. The word was created in reaction to a redrawing of Massachusetts state senate election districts under the then governor Elbridge Gerry. In 1812, Governor Gerry signed a bill that redistricted Massachusetts to benefit his Democratic-Republican Party. When mapped, one of the contorted districts in the Boston area was said to resemble the shape of a salamander.
If the Republicans win, it will be a benefit to them because of the new lines that would be drawn to reflect the independent voters that crossed over. This would result in new campaign strategies for the 2012 races, when the campaigners are on the road again for votes.
Since 1812, the Democrats have been known for taking liberties in the voting process. A new investigation of voter fraud in a small New York town will have the nation’s attention going forward in the next two years. DNA samples have been taken from the Democrat council members to compare against actual ballots that were counted in the 2009 primaries. It is alleged that these Democrats submitted bogus ballots to tilt the results in favor of certain candidates. The names on the ballots were contacted and asked if they submitted them. So far 100% of the contacted individuals denied ever filling out the early ballots, let alone submitting them.
This goes to the core of our democracy. Since 1812, some politicians have used these tactics and more to tilt the results in favor of certain candidates. We know that the 1960 presidential election was won by less than 1%. Too close to call, but those union votes won the day!
On this date, in 1764, John Adams married Abigail Smith. Their marriage lasted 54 years. Abigail Adams wrote to John Adams on July 14, 1776: “May the foundation of our Constitution, be justice, truth and righteousness. Like the wise Mans house, may it be founded upon those rocks and then neither storms nor temptests will overthrow it.”
In every election there are those that will thwart and that will intimidate. In 2008, the new black panthers intimidated voters and it was on video tape. Our U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder, decided not to prosecute. We must remember that voting is a privilege. We must remember that out vote keeps us free. We must insist that our votes are counted accurately and that only those that can be trusted will count and tabulate the votes. City Council members and Unions must be taken out of the mix. We should pay close attention to these stories and make sure they are not forgotten about.
We must also remember that when candidates hit the road they will say anything for a vote. In my Conservative Guide to Organizing, I stress that candidates live to vote, but they live by your vote. It is the basis of our system of government. When government itself threatens the viability and the accuracy of the votes then Abigail’s words to John become forgotten.

A footnote: Tomorrow we will talk about three dates that occurred in our history that made it possible for the vote to take place. In 8 days we will make history. It will be a prescribed formula that men like John Adams wanted to occur when it needed to occur. Abigail also fits into that category!
