Choice!

This is last full month before the midterm elections. Congress has adjourned and all the president’s men are leaving. I am asking that you consider today’s FORUM as the beginning of what will be a 2 year and one month campaign to take back the liberties and the freedoms that have been taken away from you over the course of six decades.

The President speaks of choice. The progressive liberal speaks of choice. Even the conservative speaks of choice. In any political season, every candidate wants you to consider the choice. I am asking you to do the same. However, I am not asking you because of any agenda or because you belong to a voting block.

When you consider what is at stake in next month’s election, you should be anxious to become an activist for regaining your rights. These rights were given to you by far greater men and women than we have in office today. You should be anxious to become an activist for your family’s freedom.

Your decision this fall is over two things; referendum or choice. If you choose to vote, because you want to send a message, you are voting for a referendum. If you choose to vote for choice, then you are voting to alter the direction of where the country is heading.

In every election, an answer to a question is sought. Usually the question is what candidate are you going to choose? We often vote, not because of the direction a candidate wishes to take us in, but rather how charismatic one is and how much advertising they are doing for name recognition.

In the last election, the vote was for a referendum, because of an unpopular president. The outcome of that referendum vote took the country in a direction that many didn’t anticipate or thought could happen.

While we are told that the outgoing Congress has given themselves a passing grade, we must ask: for what? They did pass the agenda that they put before themselves. We now know that the agenda was a failure for the country, but none the less they did pass their agenda. This is where the vote for choice is now the question. Do you want more of the same or do you want more of what this country was founded on?

A large part of the problem in government today is our fault. We vote because of referendums, rather than voting for the party who will ensure our rights and our way of life. A referendum does not guarantee or ensure what you think your vote means. It is our fault that we continue to send men and women to Congress who does not have the best interest of preserving the country for our posterity.

These thoughts and words are not new, but what candidate uses them today? The special interest groups will demonize those candidates who do. We should demonize the special interest groups when they weigh in. We should encourage candidates to walk away from the money train, so they can run on values, ideals and ideas that work. It takes courage to do this, but if we encourage those that are willing to do that, I guarantee that they will win the day.

The message you send should not be a referendum, but rather one that communicates the choice you have made. The choice is simple: more of the same destruction or a choice to empower the citizen and to make government accountable for its actions. It’s that simple.

You can also call your Senator and Congressional Representative and let them know who you are voting for and why you are making that choice!

Reagan said in his speech – “A Time For Choosing” 1964: “This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.”.

A footnote: There are 32 days left until the midterms. This will be historic, trust me on that. Make your choice and let your choice be known a referendum vote is not an option!
