Follow the Money!

When ever you are in doubt of who is at fault in a failed venture or, more importantly, a government scandal, just follow the money!

Tom Donilon was selected as this nation’s next National Security Advisor. Tom Donilon was a lobbyist for the mortgage giant Fannie Mae and fought off many of the Congressional attempts in the early part of this decade to impose new regulations. It has been argued that these regulations might have prevented the mortgage meltdown at the beginning of this administration.

As Fannie Mae’s legal counsel and top strategic thinker in the late 90’s to the middle of this decade, Donilon left his fingerprints on the Company. The meltdown and subsequent takeover by the government happened after he had moved on, however much of the damage started during his tenure.

Fannie Mae and its smaller cousin, Freddie Mac, held in their portfolios about $4.9 trillion in home – mortgage debt. The government took over Freddie Mac the same day as they stepped into rescue Fannie Mae. Their rescue has cost taxpayers more than $148 billion, so far and the scandal is deepening with new foreclosures looming.

Donilon designed and implemented Fannie Mae’s public affairs strategy, which included Capital Hill and anything that might affect opinion there. According to the Chicago Tribune, an unnamed source was quoted as saying, “ Donilon was at the head of an unceasing anti-regulatory campaign that the company waged throughout his tenure.

Donilon is replacing General James Jones as National Security Advisor, after serving as Jones deputy since January, 2009.

Donilon is a political player, as opposed to a national security player. He is political, he is a strategist and he has been close to this president. He was at the top of the list to replace Rahm Emanuel, as the President’s Chief of Staff.

Just follow the money and you will find out more about this scandal, that has not only jeopardized the economy for years to come, but has also stripped one more layer of our liberty from us. Follow the line of advisors that have gone on to serve this administration from the Czars to these new advisors from other posts.

A big part of why these scandals go undetected is that Tom Donilon does not have to go through Senate Confirmation hearings. Advisors are unlike cabinet members. These advisors enjoy the perks and often times are used by the President for other reasons. These advisors are not vetted by confirmation hearings

Just as this President has accused Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie of funding a political campaign to unseat Democrats in the fall, the President is using political appointees in untold ways. The President can criticize Karl Rove and label Karl Rove, but we cannot forget that the Democrat Party and all its affiliates and other political groups get their marching orders and funding from billionaire George Soros.

The Democratic Party has funded other organizations to get out the vote. Our own government funded liberal organizations under the guise of educating the voter and funded political campaigns that targeted past Republican candidates. Remember ACORN, Barack Obama’s favorite organizing group? Remember the scandal of voter fraud? Remember the scandal surrounding housing loans and ACORN? Just follow the money and you will find the truth. You cannot follow the story that you get in the press and from the President. What you will get is a political smoke screen that is designed to deflect and not bring out the truth.

This week, look for this President to expand the enemies list. Last week it was Karl Rove, this week it will certainly not be the new National Security Advisor!
