The road that we once walked!

On this journey to write the wrong of a government that has robbed us of our liberty and freedom it has come down to this. We have 4 days left until the midterm elections on November 2nd. We have voluntarily joined in this fight, not because we don’t have anything else to do, but it is because it is our duty to do this. It is our duty to take the power away from the establishment and to bring representative government back to those who are represented. It is a road that we must take.

When I write, I try to bring into focus historical events that occurred at the beginning of this country. History repeats itself, so we must learn what history has shown us. We must view the road of history in an historical context. It is no coincidence that I am writing my FORUM today about how, in colonial times, groups organized.
Committees of Correspondence were used in eighteenth-century America to maintain contact among institutions and communities. The Massachusetts Assembly established such a committee to deal specifically with the problem of British policy, as early as 1764. In 1771, the Boston Town Meeting appointed a committee to rouse fervor elsewhere in Massachusetts. The committee was the idea of Samuel Adams. Relations with Britain were quiescent at the time, but Adams believed Britain's seeming retreat in 1770 by its repeal of four of the five Townshend taxes had only been tactical and that colonials needed to be prepared for another crisis.
On this date, in 1772, groups were appointed by the legislatures of all 13 American colonies to provide a means of inter-colonial communication. The first standing group was formed by Samuel Adams in Boston and within three months, 80 others were formed in Massachusetts. In 1773, Virginia organized a committee with 11 members, including Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry. The committees were instrumental in promoting colonial unity and in summoning the First Continental Congress in 1774.
Today’s FORUM is my 369th. I have never run out of things to write about, because history’s story never ends when you look for context.
The President said to Jon Stewart on his show this week that, “Social Security, when it was originally passed, was a structure for progressive legislation. It is the framework for all that we do.”

Our purpose for organizing is to re-create those committees of correspondence so that we either stop or repeal the legislation that this president is sponsoring and has signed into law, because of the structure that is in place.

Yesterday I wrote: The direction we take will mean one of two things. We can choose to remain free, with limited rights, if we take that left turn or, if we choose to go right, we can insist that our government and the politicians that serve that government don’t limit our rights. This is what this election is all about.

Thomas Jefferson defined the road, in this way, when he wrote, "Declaration of The Rights of Man and The Citizen" as, "Liberty consists in the freedom to do everything which injures no one else; hence the exercise of the natural rights of each man has no limits except those which assure to the other members of the society the enjoyment of the same rights. These limits can only be determined by law."

The colonists used the road of history to create a new road that led to a great nation that would make its own history. They used European history to write the wrongs of the English King and his Parliament. They used history to create a new system of government that not only represented the people but employed two words that would define its purpose, Liberty and Freedom. It created a government that would govern by the consent of the governed.

What can I say? I love liberty and I love freedom. I love the history that men like Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Payne and Henry wrote and spoke of. I love the journey down the road that they built. I love the stories and I love the path to freedom that we are now re-creating. What can I say? I love my country and I want my fellow countrymen to know their history, so it will never again be forgotten.

Jon Stewart made history this week by calling the President “dude.” This is not the history that makes a president great. However, this is history that propels a comedian to greatness. This history only dilutes the importance of what historical context will come to mean.

This weekend, try to bring into context the historical meaning of what this election will come to mean. On Tuesday, make history and bring a context to your vote. You can repave the road that has been under your feet all the time.

Which road is the right road?

This week I have been writing about a road. I haven’t really defined the definition of what a road is, but I have used it as a theme. I have used it because I believe we are at a crossroad in this country! We are at the end of one road and standing in front of another. We either go to the left or to the right. I don’t want to confuse the term left or right with political direction. It goes far beyond that.

The direction we take will mean one of two things. We can choose to remain free, with limited rights, if we take that left turn or, if we choose to go right, we can insist that our government and the politicians that serve that government don’t limit our rights. This is what this election is all about.

As a result of this, our forefathers asked what the proper role of Government should be. To answer this they realized that our rights are not given by a government or a king. The power of a government or king must be justly derived from the consent of the governed. Our rights have never been given to the people by the government. The government should be given limited rights from the people. America, as a result of this, became a land of freedom and opportunity, with minimal government intrusion, a limited central government that would simply protect the people and maintain a safe environment for them to pursue happiness in anyway they saw fit.

The proper role of government, as they defined it, began a radical shift in political thought from the people. America would be a land of freedom and opportunity, with minimal government intrusion, a limited central government that would simply protect the people and maintain a safe environment for them to pursue their happiness through ownership of property and by creating their own wealth. The Founding Fathers, at the inception of the country, wanted pure American Liberty. With all of its problems, it was still better than the alternative. The Founding Fathers knew that when people are free they are happy. They will be creative, they will be productive and they will thrive, because government will not hinder them. They wanted a properly limited government and they designed one.
Back during the founding, some might say it was a simpler time. This might be true, but hardships did occur. It was through the freedom that American citizens had that moved this country farther and faster than any other in world history. It was freedom that created most of the inventions that give us the comforts that we have today. It was not government. It was industrious Americans that created industry to produce and create the world’s greatest economy.
It is government that is now destroying our industry at every turn. Just yesterday, Vice President Joe Biden said, “Every single great idea that has marked the 21st century, the 20th century and the 19th century has required government vision and government incentive.” In this single sentence, the vice president has summed up what is wrong with some of us in America, his party and progressive liberalism. This is the exact opposite of what our Forefathers believed, researched and wrote. This is not only preposterous, but it is a lie, a distortion and a danger to young people who don’t know history, because they are not being taught history. This is why these people should not take the helm of our government.
In new polling, 76% of Americans know someone who is either out of a job or who is looking for a new job. This is a result of men like Biden and the policies they create. This is a result of the Vice President’s total number of years enacting laws and the liberal agenda.
The President said, at the beginning of the week, as he was on the road campaigning, “The Republicans can take the back seat.” He said this in response to a question about the Republicans winning back Congress.
The Republicans have become labeled as the party of “No” by this President. The Party of “No” is now asking the same questions that our Forefathers asked. The Party of “No” is now coming to the same conclusions about government that our Forefathers came to. Many Liberals and Independents have come to the same conclusions, because they know the comments of the President and the Vice President are not comments that the Forefathers would have said, let alone believed. They realize that these comments are so far away from the “Spirit of ‘76”, that I wrote about yesterday.
The road that we will choose to take will become the road to freedom that our Founding Fathers discovered 235 years ago, when they adjourned Congress for the first time. The road they set for the next session would be to declare liberty. The next session of Congress, sworn in next January, will be the Congress that reflects the road that we want to take, not the other way around.
On this day, in 1793, Eli Whitney applied for a patent on the Cotton Gin. This was not a government sponsored idea, despite what the Vice President says. This patent created an industry and made men wealthy. This is something that our Government just does not get! I wonder, what road would Eli Whitney take today?

The road:

As we go down the road of history, we find that history repeats itself, but it can also provide direction in future events. This week, I put in perspective how the First Continental Congress adjourned and what events were important to the future events of the country.

Many of the members of the new Congress did not know each other. They all had differing views, but in the end, they came together, because the events dictated that they did. In the end, the events were bigger than themselves.

The problem we have today is that events and issues are smaller than our leaders and they take a backseat to addressing what is proper and good for the nation. The President is campaigning for his method of change, while the opposition is drawing a line of difference and of disaster. The President is complaining that the opposition is on the attack. He is right, but for reasons the President does not recognize.

The president has lost sight of his Constitutional obligations and has lost sight of what campaigns are all about. It is right to fight back when you have been attacked. This is why the opposition is out polling the president’s party and this is why this election will be a historical event that we all should view as the new road to freedom.

Midterm elections general elections in the United States are held two years after the quadrennial (four-year) elections for the President of the United States (i.e. near the midpoint of the four-year presidential term). Federal offices that are up for election during the midterms as are members of the United States Congress, including all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives, and the full terms for 33 or 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate.
In addition, 34 of the 50 U.S. states elect their governors to four-year terms during midterm elections, while Vermont and New Hampshire elect governors to two-year terms in both midterm and presidential elections. Thus, 36 governors are elected during midterm elections. Many states also elect officers to their state legislatures and county offices every two years, in both midterm and presidential election years.

Special elections are often held in conjunction with regular elections, so additional Senators and Governors may be elected to partial terms.

On January 7, 1789 the United States, having recently adopted it’s Constitution, held its first presidential election. George Washington was elected unanimously and took office on April 30, 1789. The dates for elections have changed. The two parties that are dominant in American politics have changed. What has also changed is the character and the motivation for becoming an elected leader.

The differences in the two parties are now immense. In Washington’s time, we knew who was best to hold office. In Washington’s time, we knew the character of the man. In Washington’s time, one political party was not aligned with socialists, Marxists, Communists and progressives. Bill Clinton is out campaigning against Michele Bachman, (Republican Congress woman Minnesota) and saying that she is the most dangerous woman in America, because “she is the Tea Party.”

Men like the President and men like Bill Clinton would have the nation go down the road that a man like Washington knew was the wrong turn. We are at a crossroad in America. The Democratic Party is campaigning to give illegal aliens voting privileges. The Democratic Party is campaigning on a progressive platform.

One reason to stop the Democrats is immigration. Why should an illegal alien have the privilege to vote, possibly changing the country from the mainstream view of legal citizens? Why should George Soros be given the right to dictate the outcome of elections when he says: “What America needs is stimulus instead of virtue.” Why should we put up with Democrats robbing election after election by committing voter fraud? Why should we put up with Democrats who do not allow the absentee ballots of our service men and women to be counted fairly and on time in the legal election cycle? Why should we put up with Democrats who are controlling the media with like minded cronies? Why should we put up with any of this?

There is no reason to put up with it. The politicians today have a lock on power and that is not only the problem, but it is wrong. November 2, 2010 is just one day. January 7, 1789 was just one day. The difference is not over days, it is over the people we put into office time after time. Some of the Congressional Candidates that are running for office have been in office since 1955. One such Congressional Representative is Democrat John Dingell Jr., from Michigan. There have been seven Presidents since he took office. He was responsible for writing the first healthcare bill over 40 years ago. One reason healthcare passed was because he is part of the progressive movement that has controlled Washington for all of my adult life. One of the reasons that we have taken the road that Dingell put us on is that we were willing to put up with the notion that maybe the road he wanted to take was the right one. We now know the road of the progressive has been the wrong road. We know the road of liberty and freedom is a wide boulevard compared to the rut filled narrow path that a progressive government creates.
In six days, we will face just another day and yet another election. Let us renew ourselves by renewing the privilege that Washington fought for. Let us renew the “Spirit of 76”, by replacing the elected officials who have taken us down the road to what the revolutionaries of 1776 rejected before they adjourned for the first time!

A footnote: There is no greater privilege than the vote. There is no greater privilege than to honor our history with exercising your right to vote to renew the spirit of “76.” There is nothing wrong with going down that road because the alternative should not be the option!

What put America on the road to freedom?

There are three events that took place on this date, they are:

1) 1787 – The Federalists papers were published and called for the ratification of the Constitution.
2) 1774 – The first Continental Congress adjourns in Philadelphia
3) 1774 – The Minute Men organized in the Colonies


1 ) FEDERALISTS PAPERS - America's most significant political treatise, The Federalist Papers have assumed a special place in legal scholarship. Originally written as eighty five essays under the pseudonym “Publius,” the essays were published in New York City newspapers between October 26, 1787 and May 28, 1788. The early essays were reprinted widely in newspapers and the entire series was published in two volumes in March and May 1788. Alexander Hamilton and James Madison were the principal authors, while John Jay wrote five essays.

The Federalist was published to persuade the people of New York to elect delegates who would ratify the proposed Constitution in the forthcoming state convention. Publius attempted to clarify and justify various provisions of the Constitution and to explain why other provisions, such as a bill of rights, had been omitted. Americans, Publius argued, had a rare opportunity to create their own form of government through reason and choice rather than relying on chance or force, which had dictated previous constitutions. Demonstrating the necessity of union and the insufficiency of the Articles of Confederation, Publius showed that the Constitution created a republican form of government that was strong, but that was restrained by checks and balances. This government would safeguard liberty and property and restore respect for America abroad.

2) THE FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS - The First Continental Congress convened in Philadelphia's Carpenters Hall on September 5, 1774. The idea of such a meeting was advanced a year earlier by Benjamin Franklin, but failed to gain much support until after the Port of Boston was closed in response to the Boston Tea Party.
Twelve of the 13 colonies sent delegates. Georgia decided against roiling the waters; they were facing attacks from the restive Creek on their borders and desperately needed the support of regular British soldiers.
The Congress, which continued in session until late October, did not advocate independence; it sought rather to right the wrongs that had been inflicted on the colonies and hoped that a unified voice would gain them a hearing in London. Some of the most prominent figures of the era were among the 55 delegates in attendance, including George Washington, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee, John Jay and John Dickinson.
They were mostly people of social standing and made their livings from trade, farming and the law. Many were initially unknown to one another and vast differences existed on some of the issues, but important friendships flourished. Frequent dinners and gatherings were held and were attended by all, except the spartan Sam Adams.
The Major actions taken by this Congress was to: compose a statement of American complaints. It was addressed to King George III, to whom the delegates remained loyal, and pointedly, not to Parliament. The radical elements were critical of the Declaration because it conceded the right of Parliament to regulate colonial trade, a traditional view long held by most Americans, but one that was losing favor in the mid-1770s.
Finally, the Congress agreed to convene the following spring, if colonial complaints had not been properly addressed. That meeting, the Second Continental Congress, was indeed called, in May 1775, in the wake of the battles of Lexington and Concord.
3) The Minute Men - While the leading patriots were preparing for the Grand Council of deputies in 1774, the people, everywhere, were preparing for impending war. They armed themselves, and practiced military tactics almost every day. Men of all stations in life might be found in the ranks for discipline. Deacons of churches were often captains, having more than half of the young men of the congregations with whom they worshipped, as their followers. There was seldom any military organization besides a company, but they were ready to fall into regiments and brigades when called for. Boys imitated their elders, and "trained" with sticks. Blacksmiths were kept busy all of the summer and autumn of 1774, forging swords, guns and bayonets, and other men were compounding gunpowder, and making bullets of lead. When the Congress at Philadelphia had closed late in the autumn, the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts voted to enroll twelve thousand of these patriots under the general title of Minute-men--volunteers who would be ready at a minute's warning to take the field with arms in their hands. Rhode Island and Connecticut were invited to do likewise. They did so; and when the time came for armed resistance nearly all New England was disciplined, in a degree, for the struggle. The example was contagious. Other colonies followed, and in Virginia the Minute-men were of special service to the patriot cause at a critical juncture. As the summer of 1774 wore away, Gage found himself greatly perplexed by his peculiar situation. Early in August he received official copies of the several acts of Parliament, which completely subverted the Charter of Massachusetts.

If this history doesn’t move you to consider just how far we have traveled from the original road our forefathers paved for us then my words today should not be of interest. But if you are looking for the old road to liberty and freedom then make sure you look at this history and ask yourself who in this election could fill the shoes of the patriots who paved the road that led to the fork we are now facing.

These three events are events that we should embrace and use in our dialog of relating history in the perspective of current events. Consider one thing if these events didn’t happen we would not be having this discussion today 7 days out from a crucial election.

On the road again!

This week, the President will be on the road again. He cannot sell Healthcare, he cannot sell the stimulus and he cannot sell his liberal agenda, because he cannot create jobs!

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 28% of the nation’s voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty –three percent strongly disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential approval index rating of -15. That is a negative.

While the Democrats are saying, just wait, the polls are tightening in our favor, they are out of ammunition, when it comes to the economy, healthcare and spending. The 20% that are still favoring this president are a make up of minority and left wing liberals who will support a Democrat, no matter what.

My prediction for the fall midterms are: The Republicans will take the House by 85 seats and will take the Senate by 1 seat. I base this prediction on two things: what people have told me and by what the trends over the last two months have been.

This week, the president will talk about giving the middle class tax breaks while giving the wealthy a tax hike. He quoted Albert Einstein and Al Franken. The Einstein quote was about insanity, implying the Republicans will try the old formula that got us into the mess. Remember Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results.” I am positive that the president would try the same things over again and would again double the deficit and that is the problem, it’s insane. The Franken quote, well it’s Al Franken what can I say.

The big thing to consider in this year’s election is that the Democrats do not want to talk about is re-districting. This happens every 10 years, after the census results are taken. The formal term for redistricting is known as gerrymandering. The word gerrymander (originally written Gerry-mander) was used for the first time in the Boston Gazette newspaper on March 26, 1812. The word was created in reaction to a redrawing of Massachusetts state senate election districts under the then governor Elbridge Gerry. In 1812, Governor Gerry signed a bill that redistricted Massachusetts to benefit his Democratic-Republican Party. When mapped, one of the contorted districts in the Boston area was said to resemble the shape of a salamander.

If the Republicans win, it will be a benefit to them because of the new lines that would be drawn to reflect the independent voters that crossed over. This would result in new campaign strategies for the 2012 races, when the campaigners are on the road again for votes.

Since 1812, the Democrats have been known for taking liberties in the voting process. A new investigation of voter fraud in a small New York town will have the nation’s attention going forward in the next two years. DNA samples have been taken from the Democrat council members to compare against actual ballots that were counted in the 2009 primaries. It is alleged that these Democrats submitted bogus ballots to tilt the results in favor of certain candidates. The names on the ballots were contacted and asked if they submitted them. So far 100% of the contacted individuals denied ever filling out the early ballots, let alone submitting them.

This goes to the core of our democracy. Since 1812, some politicians have used these tactics and more to tilt the results in favor of certain candidates. We know that the 1960 presidential election was won by less than 1%. Too close to call, but those union votes won the day!

On this date, in 1764, John Adams married Abigail Smith. Their marriage lasted 54 years. Abigail Adams wrote to John Adams on July 14, 1776: “May the foundation of our Constitution, be justice, truth and righteousness. Like the wise Mans house, may it be founded upon those rocks and then neither storms nor temptests will overthrow it.”

In every election there are those that will thwart and that will intimidate. In 2008, the new black panthers intimidated voters and it was on video tape. Our U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder, decided not to prosecute. We must remember that voting is a privilege. We must remember that out vote keeps us free. We must insist that our votes are counted accurately and that only those that can be trusted will count and tabulate the votes. City Council members and Unions must be taken out of the mix. We should pay close attention to these stories and make sure they are not forgotten about.

We must also remember that when candidates hit the road they will say anything for a vote. In my Conservative Guide to Organizing, I stress that candidates live to vote, but they live by your vote. It is the basis of our system of government. When government itself threatens the viability and the accuracy of the votes then Abigail’s words to John become forgotten.

Motivations: The October Surprise the liberals don’t want!

The word Motivation is defined – a: the act or process of motivating b: the condition of being motivated 2: a motivating force or influence.

We all want to be motivated. We all want someone to take the lead and motivate the team at work. We want our leaders to motivate and make us the best we can be for our country and for our families. Why isn’t it happening? Is it just the wrong people, the wrong force, the wrong influence and lack of motivation?

The left calls the Tea Party movement racist. This has never been proven and there has never been a documented incident. The left calls the Conservative movement a movement for the rich and the powerful. The left calls a Republican candidates religion into question over an unsubstantiated story that took place 30 years ago. Throughout all of this, what has the Conservative done, except to motivate their side to put a stop to the nonsense in campaigning and in government?

I had a conversation with a friend, David, on Saturday night. We were at a party and I started to talk about George Soros and the absence of his money and his campaign donations this year. I had a theory that he and the Democrats did not want his money to be visible, so they could create some other story about the Republican campaign donations being questionable. I was half right. Soros is around again and his donations are visible and are dirty. I was going to relate this story earlier in the week, but I had other things to say.

So, I will relate it to the word we are discussing today; motivation. This week, we have learned about a one million dollar donation to Media Matters made by Soros. We have learned he has given 1.8 million dollars to NPR (National Public Radio); that left leaning government sponsored radio corporation. We have also learned that Juan Williams was fired from NPR for a comment he made on The O’Reilly Factor, hosted by Bill O’Reilly on FOX News. We have also learned that Soros has put pressure on the advertisers of FOX to boycott Glen Beck on that same channel. Soros has motivated his forces to label Beck as dangerous for America. Juan Williams said on The Factor that he gets nervous when he sees Muslims in airports who dress in Muslim garb. Williams was fired for the comment and I am sure if we follow the money it goes back to Soros and one of the many organizations he funds with his dirty money! Soros is prohibiting our basic right to freedom of speech, freedom of thought and freedom of association. This should scare every American. George Washington said, “It is better to be alone than in bad company”.

I have written that the candidates who speak about liberty and freedom and the commentators and others who speak of liberty and freedom are now being called bigots, racists, extremists, psychopathic and are being marginalized and taken out, because of their patriotic views. George Soros is not a patriot. He is not an American, let alone a citizen. He is a greedy, evil man who is motivated to destroy this country for his socialist beliefs and his lust for power and wealth. His motivations are not to secure liberty and freedom, but to destroy it for us and our posterity, while he is robbing us of our prosperity through money manipulation and progressive pay offs by supporting shadow left wing organizations.

Does Glenn Beck support shadow organizations with his money? Does Rush Limbaugh support shadow organizations with his money? No. They speak with truth. They speak about history. They are not motivated to destroy our country and our way of life like George Soros. They are not motivated to destroy our country and our way of life like progressive liberals. They are not motivated to discount the words of Washington, Jefferson and the other founding fathers. The motivations of the left are to discount and rewrite history for their own agenda and, yes, their own motivations.

Compare the words of George Soros and other progressives to that of Conservatives. The words liberty and freedom are non existent in the progressive dialog, but these words are out front, in a motivating way, with conservatives.

I heard an interview with Senator Carl Levin (Michigan), yesterday. The host of the show and the Senator had a difference of opinion about taxes and social policy. The Senator gave the same talking points about Reagan raising the deficit, but failed to say he also raised revenue to the government through tax cuts, which supported the deficit. The Senator went on to say that the rich are the problem, because they are not taxed enough. He went on to say that if they were then there would be more money for the poor and disadvantaged. In all of his chatter, there was not one word about freedom and the preservation of liberty and the foundation that our forefathers laid before us which is in direct contrast to what Levin believes.

The word motivate will be the deciding factor in 11 days. The words liberty and freedom should motivate you to get out and vote for those who use these words. Carl Levin, George Soros and even the President don’t use these words. Liberty and freedom motivated Washington to lead the troops. Old Ironsides!

On todays date, in 1797, the U.S. frigate Constitution, “Old Ironsides” was launched in Boston, Massachusetts. Yesterday, I wrote about the perspective that our enemies view us from. When Old Ironsides was commissioned, the world perspective of the United States was one of great awe and one of great strength that would become stronger because of the system of government that we fought a revolution for.

The U.S.S. Constitution, named by President George Washington--called "Old Ironsides" because cannonballs could not penetrate her tough oak sides--was one of the first of the original six frigates that made up the U.S. Navy. A 44-gun frigate built at the Edmond Hartt Shipyard, Boston, MA, in 1797. Her dimensions are 53,34x13,26x6,0 (d) m [175'0x43'6"x16'7"] and with a displacement of 2000 tons., the ship carried a crew of more than 450. The ship served in the undeclared naval war with France (1798-1800) was the Flagship in the, Mediterranean squadron, in the Tripolitan War (1801-05). In the War of 1812 the Constitution won battles with the British frigates Guerriere and Java; the former battle took place about 1,200 km (750 mi) east of Boston on Aug. 19, 1812, and the latter off the coast of Brazil on Dec. 29, 1812. The Constitution made its last combat tour in 1814-15. The ship was scheduled to be scrapped in 1830, but Oliver Wendell Holmes's poem "Old Ironsides" inspired a public movement to save it. Restored in 1925, the Constitution is now the oldest commissioned vessel in the U.S. Navy.

This election season is about restoration of a country that was created not to perish. This election season is about a ship that represents that strength and that is still a commissioned vessel. This election season is about the ship of state that will once again become strong and able to repel evil and repel the politician that has brought looming deficits not only in spirit but in our wealth. This election will start the process of restoration that Old Ironsides saw at the beginning of the last century.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that most likely voters think their representatives in Congress do not deserve reelection if he or she voted for the national care law, the auto bailouts or the $787 – billion economic stimulus plan.

Those votes also appear to be the driving factors in the GOP’s consistent lead over Democrats on the generic Congressional ballot.

Forty three percent of all likely voters say someone who voted for the healthcare law deserves to be reelected. Fifty percent oppose their reelection.

Thirty six percent say, if their local representative voted for the taxpayer bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler, he or she deserves to be returned to Congress. Fifty three percent say that person does not deserve reelection.

Similarly, forty one percent say their representative in Congress should be reelected if he or she voted for the stimulus plan, but fifty percent don’t see it that way and say the individual should not be reelected.

The partisan divide is predictable, since virtually no Congressional Republicans voted for any of these measures. So Democratic voters overwhelmingly think those in Congress who voted for these measures should be reelected, while Republicans feel just as strongly that they should not be reelected.

But, tellingly, voters not affiliated with either party, also feel strongly that supporters of the healthcare law, the auto bailouts and the stimulus should not be returned to Congress.

This poll also tells a story of strength in the American people and in our system. It tells the story of a frigate that once sailed and conquered all adversity. It tells a story that every now and then needs to be told again.

If our government is once again given back to the people we will have fulfilled the plan and the destiny of what our forefathers intended. When our government is returned to the people the world will feel a cool calm breeze and see a ship that is ready once again to sail on the waters of prosperity and bring freedom in its wake.

When Old Ironsides was built, the nation believed in elevating people through strength of ownership and wealth. When Old Ironsides was scheduled for deconstruction and ruin, the country was in the beginning of depression. This country since then has never gone without, but now it is and that is what this election is all about. It is about restoration and elevating those that see a way clear from the ruin of those who voted to sink the ship of state.

This country of ours, along with Old Ironsides, has freed millions. For over two plus centuries, our country has brought democracy and Independence to millions of the world’s inhabitants. For over two plus centuries, our country has kept the world free and safe. We cannot let the world down in this election. The reason why we are free is we have a chance every two years to either reverse or move ahead. This election is about reversing and moving ahead with freedom and not tyranny. The reason why we are free and are able to set an example for the rest of the world is that we can reverse the direction of our leaders and replace them.

Save your Country!

While Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are making nice with each other, our President is in the fight for political survival. Chavez and Ahmadinejad are celebrating trade agreements, oil and gas deals and, yes, nuclear technology. Russia has entered into a deal with Chavez to build that country’s first nuclear reactor and Iran is helping with the technology exchange.

Chavez and Ahmadinejad are giving speeches denouncing American Imperialism, and America’s connections world wide to impeded independence of the Venezuelan and Iranian people. Chavez was quoted as saying “they (America) will not stop us.

Chavez and Ahmadinejad are meeting with Syrian and Libyan officials over gas and trade treaties. They will also talk about nuclear power and the exchange of technology to create nuclear weapons. Some might call this a conspiracy theory, some might call this an alarmist view of the world and some might say this will never happen.

Well, it has happened. Iran has the technology, Russia has the means and Chavez has the motive. These leaders are not interested in saving America, because they think America cannot be saved because Americans don’t want to save it, especially the President!

The perspective that our enemies have of this country that it is a country that no longer on the rise. The perspective that our enemies have of our country is one that has become weak, because we are now dependant on our government. Gone are the days of the cowboy. Gone are the days of the actor who became a leader that brought another country down on its knees. Gone are the days when Americans were truly American and who wanted to roll up their sleeves and fix what was wrong, no matter what the challenge was. The perspective our enemies have of this country is not one of rockets being sent to the moon or of great books and art being created. Their perspective is one of tattered pages and rusting silos.

Twenty five years ago, our perspective of the Soviet Union was just that. Twenty five years ago, our perspective of the Southern Hemisphere was one of low technology and low income. Our perspective twenty five years ago of the Middle Eastern countries was one of containment and nomadic tribes.

The enemies of America are astute and they are watching. They are watching the next 13 days through the eyes of self interest and the eyes of victory. They are watching a young president talk the talk, but unable to walk the walk. Walking the walk is more important to them than the talk.

While these enemies are conspiring to thwart any attempt that the U.S. might employ to bring them down, they are celebrating the perceived take down of the country through our own internal devices.

What we do not realize is that Iran, Venezuela, Syria, Libya and Russia are not democracies, nor are they free. They are ruled by rulers and not governed by the governed. They do not embrace free enterprise and capitalism so the incentive to save this country is non existent. This is why it is incumbent upon us to save our country.

Yesterday, our enemies saw the Dow drop165 points. Yesterday, our enemies saw ridiculous chatter from ridiculous candidates running for the governor’s office in New York. Yesterday, our enemies saw two candidates discuss the Constitution with little accuracy attached to their definitions. This is the perspective that our enemies have of you and me. This perspective scares me to death, because I do not want to be represented by a political party that calls itself “the rent is too high”, or a party that call themselves the Green Party. I think you get the point. Save your country by voting for some sanity.

The election on November 2 will be watched the world over. It will be watched to see who takes control of the House and it will be watched to see if the Senate falls. It will be watched to see who takes control of the State Houses and it will be watched to gauge just how much change Americans really want.

This is why it isso important for you to save your country on November 2. The candidates might not be the best, but they are far better than the current office holders, like Boxer, Reid, Pelosi and Frank. I think you get the picture.

If your vote is the one that changes the perception of Chavez, Ahmadinejad, and Putin then that is the perspective they will see. They will realize that you want to save America and that will be enough.

We just don’t understand:

Andrea Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, declared that Multi-Culturalism doesn’t work, because it can’t work. It doesn’t work, because keeping cultures separate will not assimilate them. Part of the assimilation process for immigrants encourages the blending of cultures into the dominant culture while encouraging the use of the countries language. In Germany, where other Europeans have migrated, who have not assimilated have not become successful. They have excluded themselves, because they have retained their culture to their own detriment by not assimilating.

In this country we started out as one nation, with one language and one culture, while practicing the traditions of other cultures. While Europe is now witnessing what has not worked, we in the United States are migrating towards what Europe is now saying doesn’t work. This is a matter of not understanding what the successful formula of freedom has been all about.

On today’ date, two major events occurred that created the practice of what American Exceptionalism is and what gave us freedom and liberty. It was not one man, it was not one party. It was a group of people who dared to ask the question of why and understood what the meaning was to the answer of why.

The first event occurred on October 19, 1765. This is when our first Congress met in New York to protest the Stamp Act and authored the Declaration of Rights and Liberties. (http://www.constitution.org/bcp/dor_sac.htm)

The second event occurred at 2p.m. on October 19, in the year of 1781. This is when British General Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown which effectively ended the American Revolutionary War.

What we don’t understand is that these dates were pivotal in bringing this country to its destined future. It was because of these events that the thought of a free America was born and completed. What we fail to understand is that the nation was forged from the thought of men and women wanting to be free and wanting to assimilate the cultures of many people into one Union: the United States of America. What we don’t understand is that in our early days we didn’t have talk about one party being left and one party being right. What we don’t understand is that in those days we didn’t want a ruler. We wanted a leader that governed according to law, the Constitution and the original documents; such as the Declaration that provide a clear cut path to the events that ended the Revolutionary War and provided the basis for free men and women to govern themselves, instead of men and women being governed by a ruler. What we don’t understand is that our laws and rules of freedom have been with us all along in this journey we call American Exceptionalism. What we don’t understand is that we don’t need a government to rule. We need a government that will be governed by the governed. What we don’t understand is that this is what our forefathers were telling us.

What we don’t understand is that our Constitution did not give us the poor; that one side of the political spectrum wants to cater too. What the poor don’t understand is that government has made them poor through taxation and the bureaucracy of entitlements.

What those on the side of less government don’t understand is that government is needed to provide for those who sometimes times cannot provide for themselves. What we don’t understand, as a country, is how did we get to a point where we cannot reduce bureaucracy, because we cannot repeal or just stop the programs that sustain poverty?

The President’s party will be defeated for the things that they failed to understand. While the Republicans are on the brink of victory they must also understand the failures and be prepared to correct them. All this is premature, because the midterms have not taken place. But we should be discussing what failure is and what failure means to the country at large when we don’t understand what American Exceptionalism is all about.

The last paragraph of the Declaration of Rights and Liberties said: “Lastly, That it is the indispensable duty of these colonies to the best of sovereigns, to the mother-country, and to themselves, to endeavor, by a loyal and dutiful address to His Majesty, and humble application to both houses of Parliament, to procure the repeal of the act for granting and applying certain stamp duties, of all clauses of any other acts of Parliament whereby the jurisdiction of the admiralty is extended as aforesaid, and of the other late acts for the restriction of the American commerce.” The last word in this document was commerce. Our forefathers knew and understood that commerce is what would give a young nation its wealth. They also knew and understood that high taxes would rob the new nation of its wealth. The Supreme Court will be asked about the Constitutionality of the Presidents Health Care Plan. The President’s Plan will increase costs through taxation and will grow government. What we don’t understand is the delicate relationship between government and commerce.

George Washington’s general orders, after the British surrendered at Yorktown on October 19, 1781: “The commander-in-chief earnestly recommends that the troops not on duty should universally attend with that seriousness of deportment and gratitude of heart which the recognition of such reiterated and astonishing interposition of province demands of us.” What Washington understood is that he could not take credit for the victory, but he could give general orders that would bring an end to the war for freedom and independence. Though hostilities did not come to an end until the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783, the battles on land did.

In the story of our freedom and independence, we must understand what is meant by the words that provided a country the dream that would become the American Dream. Freedom and Independence did not come as a result of a president. We must understand that freedom and independence came as a result of those who understood the formula that gave us freedom and independence and that was the beginning of American Exceptionalism.

The little guy wins!

Remember the title of this FORUM on November 3, 2010. This will be what we will be celebrating the day after the midterms.

What we should learn in 15 days is that elections have consequences and elections have outcomes. The point to have an election is to change the outcome of the past election depending on the consequences and the results of those that have held office.

Every election brings a voice to the table. Every election should also bring new voices. This is healthy and this is what keeps a democracy or a republic vibrant and alive. Every election should be a learning process and should be taken seriously.

Elections are meant for one thing. It is when the little guy can voice his preference and can speak through a vote.

On today’s date, in 1767, the boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania, also known as the Mason Dixon line, was agreed upon. Charles Mason and Jerimiah Dixon arrived in Philadelphia. Mason was an astronomer who had worked at the Royal Observatory at Greenwich and Dixon was a renowned surveyor. The two had worked together as a team before they were given the assignment to the colonies.

Their first task was to determine the exact location of Philadelphia. From there, they began to survey the north –south line that divided the Delmarva Peninsula into the Calvert and Penn properties. Only after the Delmarva portion of the line had been completed were they able to mark the East –West line running between Pennsylvania and Maryland.

A precise point was established fifteen miles south of Philadelphia and since the beginning of their line was west of Philadelphia, they had to begin their measurement to the east of the beginning of their line. They erected a limestone benchmark at their point of origin.

I bring up this point of history, because it is important to the political makeup of the Red and Blue State comparison that has delineated our discussion since George W. Bush defeated Al Gore at the beginning of this century. The Mason Dixon Line has always been a dividing line between North and South. Many political leaders that run for national office pay close attention to the line and the differences that the line represents.

After fifty years the line was very symbolic in the minds of the people of our young nation struggling over slavery and the names of the two surveyors who created it will evermore be associated with that struggle and its geographic association. I am sure that Mr. Mason and Mr. Dixon did not intend for their limestone benchmark to mark the point at which the country would become divided.

I am sure that our forefathers did not intend for politicians to divide the country by race, by origin and by political party. But it has happened and it can be traced to the recent two elections that have polarized the country and made it virtually impossible to employ that truly American tradition of compromise.

In all this history, the little guy with no voice was given a voice. In all this time, both black and white are able to vote and voice their preference in elections.

The country was young at the time when Mason and Dixon made the line. The young country then had young inhabitants that wanted freedom on both sides of the line. However, freedom meant different things to many people at that time. Just as freedom today means different things today to young people. This week the president will be addressing the young at rallies. Many will listen, but many will now ask the questions that they did not ask two years ago. Even the young today want the American dream of yesterday. Today they cannot get it no matter what the president says to the little guy!

This week The President will embark on a cross country journey. He will travel from the East to the West - North and South he will even cross the Mason Dixon line drumming up votes and support while he asks for another chance and more time. The First Lady will also be accompanying him and also making a plea to give “Barack more time to enact his agenda for change.” Last week, I wrote about Washington making the first presidential trip in the nation’s history. This week will be the first time when a black President makes a trip with the First Lady to drum up votes in a midterm.

There is even a Mason Dixon political poll. New polling from other polls also shows that 25% of voters who voted for Democrats will not vote for Democrats this year. The polls also show that the economy and the leadership of the president are now in doubt. It is the little guy who is now speaking. It is the little guy who will turn the tide of this election.

Jefferson wrote to Samuel Smith in 1788: “We are now vibrating between to much and too little government. And the pendulum will rest finally in the middle.”

It will be the little guy who will bring the political pendulum back to the middle. It will be the little guy who, in the process, will also bring the country back to the right side of the spectrum.

Jefferson also wrote in a letter to Thomas Seymour in 1807: “The press is impotent when it abandons itself to falsehood.”

We will see a fawning press giving aid and comfort to this beleaguered president this week. We will see the press elevate the First Lady to that of first counselor in chief. This will be the story that the press will give to the little guy.

There are at least 25% of the Mason’s, Dixon’s, Smith’s and Jones that will not vote Democratic this year. This is a true number, because I know many Democrats and at least 25% of them have told me they will not vote for the Democrats. Oddly enough, one of them is named Jones.

Christine O’Donnell, you know the Senate Candidate in Delaware that dabbled in witchcraft, said the most profound thing I think I have heard in months. She was in a debate against her Democratic rival, the bearded Marxist.

Her response during a rebuttal was, “Do you want American’s to receive food stamps or pay checks?” This is profound, because she was not supposed to win against the established Republican and not supposed to have gained in the polls. Regardless of the outcome, what she said is the essence of what this fall campaign is all about.

Last month, I advanced the notion: don’t make this a referendum election, make this an election of choice. The choice is simple. Do you want big government killing jobs or a government that makes it possible to grow jobs?

Say what you will about Christine and Sarah - they get it!

Yesterday, the new jobless claims were released. The new figures are that 462,000 people filed for jobless claims last week. With this number we should be asking the question “Do you want American’s to receive food stamps or pay checks?”

This week, we have been discussing the cornerstone of our country, our freedom and our liberty, which are the cornerstones of what makes a great economy. While the President is making excuses, there is no running away from this number. Washington said, “It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one.” In good times, the jobless claims number is about 350,000 for a month, not a week. The problem is that we are not replacing jobs and we are not growing jobs. This is the new cornerstone that has been laid by this White House.

There are three things in our economy that make it work, make it stable and makes it grow. They are: Jobs, Housing and the Stock Market. The Market is up, no denying it. This is a result of treasury bonds being sold and big players playing. The normal Joe is not! Housing starts are down for another straight month. Foreclosures are up and beating last year’s level. Finally, there are jobs we are not creating anymore, because small business startups are few because of no confidence and corporate layoffs are still occurring in large numbers. This is the cornerstone of what makes a bad economic picture.

I go back to what Christine O’Donnell said, “Do you want American’s to receive food stamps or pay checks?” This is the choice and this is what we must now start telling Congress. We want jobs, not food stamps!

On today’s date, in 1789, President Washington left for a historic tour; the first by a President to New England. His first stop was in New Hampshire. This was in a time when just about everyone wanted the same man as president. There was no doubt as to his allegiance, his qualifications and his beliefs. Washington was the cornerstone that future presidencies would be built upon. He knew that everything he did as President would be looked upon as a first. This is why he was so careful to act in a way that would honor the office and the country.

Today, our President “tours” MTV, CMT and a few other cable channels that have youth in their audience. He was met with a non exuberant reception. He was met with a question, if you cannot provide jobs, then why should we vote for you? The youth factor in this election will not be a deciding factor. The youth will boycott this election or vote for the other candidate.

During Washington’s tour, every stop was met with pomp and circumstance. Not because of what people wanted Washington to give them - but because of what Washington gave to them in the form of liberty, freedom and a cornerstone upon which people could build a future.

A new statistic is out today. 85% of college graduates are now moving back home with their parents, because they cannot find work.

This week, I have been writing about Washington and the many cornerstones that he laid. A cornerstone can be physical and it can be philosophical. A cornerstone can be for good and it can be for future generations to recognize and appreciate if they are told about them.

I believe that our president has much to worry about. Many people wanted him to be great, because of what he was. Washington became great because of who he was.

Our president brings worry upon himself, because of the perceived greatness that he cannot live up to.

The cornerstone is important!

Yesterday, I wrote about the cornerstone of thought. Yesterday, was the 218th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone at what would become The White House. It was laid in place by George Washington. There was a cornerstone, because there was great thought and deliberation by our founding fathers when they decided to declare Independence.

I wanted to bring into focus the word “cornerstone”, because it is an important word; not only in the history of grand structures, but grand ideas that result in grand ideals.

On today’s date, in 1774, the nation’s first Continental Congress met to declare colonial rights in Philadelphia. Some of the same men that I continually write about were there. Take a minute to read a brief history of this session of Congress.

[Following the Boston Tea Party and the adoption of the Intolerable Acts, delegates gathered on September 5, 1774, at Philadelphia, in what was to become the First Continental Congress. Every colony but Georgia was represented. They voted on September 6 to appoint a committee "to state the rights of the Colonies in general, the several instances in which these rights are violated or infringed, and the means most proper to be pursued for obtaining a restoration of them" (Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774-1789, Washington, 1904, I, 26).

Joseph Galloway (173l -1803), a Philadelphia merchant and lawyer, led a conservative attempt to unite the colonies within the Empire. He had served as speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly from 1776 to 1774. In the war Galloway supported the British cause and after 1778 became spokesman for the Loyalists in England. In the First Continental Congress the more radical delegates thrust aside Galloway's proposal and on October 14 adopted instead, by unanimous action, the Declaration of Colonial Rights reproduced here. The first draft of these resolutions was written by Major John Sullivan (1740-95 ), delegate from New Hampshire, lawyer, major of the New Hampshire militia, major general in the Continental Army, judge, and eventually governor of his state.

Before they dissolved, on October 26, the members voted to meet again in the same city on May 10, 1775, "unless the redress of grievances ... be obtained before that time"
This single meeting of Congress was the cornerstone of our history and our fight for Independence.

This was not a mistake. This was not somebody saying “Oops”! These were intentional acts to rebel against intentional acts. Since the beginning of the Republic, our country has seen many in history succeed and many fail. Most fail because of ideology and beliefs. There is something inherent in being an American. There is something inherent in us to recognize what failure is.
President Obama, in an NYT interview, said he, “doesn’t believe that shovel ready jobs exist.” He also said that he, “looks like a regular tax and spend democrat.” The Vice President said, “We’re not campaigning on our legislation because it’s just too hard to explain.” Oops!
I keep writing about the difference in this presidency, the difference in the men in this presidency and the difference in the men that laid the cornerstone of liberty for us to embrace, enjoy and, most importantly, preserve!

With these admissions, our president has thrown in the towel. Everyone can see that his programs have failed and his Congress has failed. The Washington Post is reporting that fellow Democrats are walking away from their support of Nancy Pelosi. When a President fails, his country fails. If our forefathers failed in their efforts to secure liberty, then the cornerstone of their beliefs would have failed.

The cornerstone of beliefs is what has failed here. The American people will have these failed programs to deal with, but the beliefs in freedom and liberty haven’t failed. It is the cornerstone of being an American. I wrote yesterday, “at every turning point in our history, liberty has won over tyranny.” Fortunately, few generations of Americans have witnessed tyranny. This is why it becomes incumbent upon us to tell the story of history and tell the story of the failed attempts to destroy liberty and freedom. When one generation tolerates the ills of another, it then becomes acceptable to future generations. This is not what the cornerstone of our history tells us. Our cornerstone tells us that when we recognize tyranny it is our duty to triumph over it.

Tyranny is a strong word to use. Tyranny is not supposed to exist in this modern world. But it does. It exists in foreign lands where government looms over the individual. It exists in the epilogs of history with men who have beliefs in the concentrating of power and the consolidation of political appointees with little accountability to the public who pays their salary. It exists when men conspire to hatch political plans that are designed to control and indoctrinate. It exists when your vote becomes a question of patriotism. It exists when freemen are challenged to reveal where their support comes from through innuendo and falsity.

The fall midterms are here. We have less than three weeks. The results of the midterms will tell a story. The president is telling a story now. He is dabbling in fiction and he is trying to rewrite the last chapter of a bad script. Our forefathers and the great men of history didn’t have to rewrite their last chapter, because the last chapter was a celebration of triumph and not defeat!

A new Rueters poll has the president at a 43% approval to a 53% disapproval rating. We will see the true character of this man when these poll numbers prove to be right in a few weeks. We will see the true character of those who will control the Congress through their actions and the promises they have made.

Again it will be up to us to maintain the cornerstone of the beliefs and ideals that gave liberty and freedom a structure to grow. It will be up to us to relate what happened on this date in 1774. It will be up to us to make sure that the sunlight shines brightly on the people’s house. Just in the way Washington intended it to 218 years ago!

Today and the people’s house the cornerstone of today’s thought:

On today’s date in 1792, George Washington laid the Cornerstone of the Executive Mansion that would become known as The White House. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_house)

The White House stands for the principals set forth in our founding documents. It stands for freedom and it should stand for truth. It stands for the Constitution and it stands for the Bill of Rights. It stands as the people’s house. It was constructed by the people for the people.

There have been many Presidents since the founding that have lived in the residence and that have served their country from the people’s house. Some have been greater than others and some have endured themselves to history, because of what the House stands for.

There have been some dark days that have befallen the White House and there have been some bright days that made that house the beacon of hope for the world.

The history of the nation is reflective of the inhabitant of this House. The history of the world since this House was dedicated has been reflective of the inhabitant. This House has withstood all the history that it has seen, since the day it was dedicated 218 years ago.

Our first President, George Washington, never lived in the House, but the aura of his spirit is all around that building. Spirit is one thing, but ideology and beliefs are something altogether different.

We all have a spirit. A spirit makes us accomplish things. A spirit can inspire us to do great things and a spirit is what makes a soul complete. However, ideology and beliefs come in many forms. If Washington had a desire to set the great forces of government upon us, we would know no different today. If Washington’s beliefs were to use the office of the presidency to distort truth and set forth rumors in October, we would know no different. But Washington didn’t. That is why we know the difference between liberty and tyranny today. This is why at every turning point in our history, liberty has won over tyranny.

Every president has had to keep secrets in this House. Every president has conducted a form of war from that House, be it domestic or foreign. Every president has spent long hours awake and sometime alone in the depths of darkness, when the sun did not shine on that House. Every president, I hope, had his country’s best interest in mind when he entered that House, but not every president went into that House wanting to fundamentally change the country.

Not every president has lost his base, because of failure and not every president has had his men go into the gutter to attack and assassinate the character of his opponents.

David Axelrod, the president’s advisor and one of the few in the inner circle, went on the attack to drop the October surprise. His attack came in the question of where is the opposition getting it’s money to attack democratic candidates? When asked by Bob Schieffer if he had any proof, Axelrod retorted: “do you have any proof that says it is not happening?”

I didn’t want to necessarily bring this topic up today, because every talk show and every pundit has made comment on this. So why should I be different? I bring this up, because we fail to remember our history.

It was Washington who set the seeds of government. It was Washington who warned us against false allegiance. It was Washington who said he would use the Constitution as his guide. There have some presidents who have not used the Constitution as their guide.

A president is elected every four years. There is a reason for this and we are living that reason now. Washington knew it then and it still holds true to today. When a president and his men launch attacks on fellow citizens with innuendo and false facts then it is time for the electorate to change its government. This is why the White House was built for temporary residence and this is why it is called the People’s House.

When the president and his men conspire to hatch these plots they not only thwart our system, but they denigrate the spirit of Washington. When the president’s men hatch these plans and the president approves of them we are no better than the nations that we have been at war with over freedom and liberty. We are no better than the type of rule that we fought our independence over. We are no better, because we have been placed in the gutter.

The mantra for this president was “Hope and Change”. Unfortunately, that has changed to fear and smear. When we vote in November, we have new choices. We do have choices that will bring a change and the choices are real. One of these choices just might end up in the White House. I can assure you that the choices we have in November are far better than the choice the people had in Illinois when this President was asked to serve in the Senate. You see, elections do have consequences and Washington knew it.

Can you believe this?

Yesterday, I wrote about following the money when there is a scandal. The President and all the president’s men are now saying that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is using foreign money against the Democrats in campaign ads.

Yesterday, I wrote about the President singling out Karl Rove for a similar activity. These attacks are nothing more than an attempt to stir up the base. But what base does the President have left? What does the Democratic Party have left? They might have Hillary and they might have Bill, but even these two cannot reverse what this President and this Congress has done in the last few years.

The attempt to discredit Republicans by diverting the issue is not only foolish, but it illustrates just how desperate the Liberals are. Their agenda has failed. Their attempt to fundamentally change the country has failed. And the President has failed. These are all good things for the country.

There is a three pronged approach that the liberals in Congress and in the government have tried to use. There is the notion of big Government is best. There is the notion that the media can manipulate the voter and finally, there is the notion that our education system can be the instrument that our young will be indoctrinated with. In each case, the agenda has been met with resistance by people who are now starting to see and realize just how much a danger the liberals present.

The latest attempt to brand some Republicans as unethical or not following the rules in campaign financing and advertising is specious; this word is defined: having deceptive attraction or allure having false look of truth or genuineness.

The Vice President said yesterday that the Republicans are out raising all sorts of foreign money. The Democrats released an ad that describes this as liberty robbing. What does this administration know about liberty?

If we analyze the audience that all this is aimed at, it is the audience that remains. The audience consists of Minority voters and the young who are idealists. Remember, idealism gets in the way of reality. The President said over the weekend that the blacks must get out and vote like they did in 2008. He was addressing an audience of young people when a book was thrown on stage and a streaker ran in front of the audience. Did I say streaker, yes, a nude male made an appearance. This is all that the President has left.

Let’s talk about Congress, who did not vote to extend the Bush tax cuts before they adjourned. Let’s talk about how the new tax burden will take upwards of $1,100.00 out of the pay checks of low income workers and the same people who were listening to his speech over the weekend.

Let’s talk about this in front of the minority groups that went to listen to the president and saw a streaker. Let’s talk about this in front of the young people of the nation who don’t know any better. What scares me most is that these groups are still under the impression that what the president and his cronies have presented will work.

Winston Churchill said it best, “If you’re not a liberal at twenty, you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative, at forty you have no brain.”

We must teach our young and teach this president that it is time to stand up and listen. It is time to stand up and say maybe I have been wrong. Churchill said of courage, “Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

Yesterday, I began the week talking about following the money in a scandal. Today, I am writing about following the line that the press will report, because the president spoke about it. Today, we must begin to educate the young about the ills of big government and those who perpetrate the scandal for votes.

A new opinion research dynamic poll was released; in a generic ballot of likely voters the November midterm will show that in a high turnout the Republicans will have a 53% lead above the Democrats 41% turnout. In a low turn out the numbers are just about the same.

The good news is that some people get it and the bad news is that some still don’t.

Follow the Money!

When ever you are in doubt of who is at fault in a failed venture or, more importantly, a government scandal, just follow the money!

Tom Donilon was selected as this nation’s next National Security Advisor. Tom Donilon was a lobbyist for the mortgage giant Fannie Mae and fought off many of the Congressional attempts in the early part of this decade to impose new regulations. It has been argued that these regulations might have prevented the mortgage meltdown at the beginning of this administration.

As Fannie Mae’s legal counsel and top strategic thinker in the late 90’s to the middle of this decade, Donilon left his fingerprints on the Company. The meltdown and subsequent takeover by the government happened after he had moved on, however much of the damage started during his tenure.

Fannie Mae and its smaller cousin, Freddie Mac, held in their portfolios about $4.9 trillion in home – mortgage debt. The government took over Freddie Mac the same day as they stepped into rescue Fannie Mae. Their rescue has cost taxpayers more than $148 billion, so far and the scandal is deepening with new foreclosures looming.

Donilon designed and implemented Fannie Mae’s public affairs strategy, which included Capital Hill and anything that might affect opinion there. According to the Chicago Tribune, an unnamed source was quoted as saying, “ Donilon was at the head of an unceasing anti-regulatory campaign that the company waged throughout his tenure.

Donilon is replacing General James Jones as National Security Advisor, after serving as Jones deputy since January, 2009.

Donilon is a political player, as opposed to a national security player. He is political, he is a strategist and he has been close to this president. He was at the top of the list to replace Rahm Emanuel, as the President’s Chief of Staff.

Just follow the money and you will find out more about this scandal, that has not only jeopardized the economy for years to come, but has also stripped one more layer of our liberty from us. Follow the line of advisors that have gone on to serve this administration from the Czars to these new advisors from other posts.

A big part of why these scandals go undetected is that Tom Donilon does not have to go through Senate Confirmation hearings. Advisors are unlike cabinet members. These advisors enjoy the perks and often times are used by the President for other reasons. These advisors are not vetted by confirmation hearings

Just as this President has accused Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie of funding a political campaign to unseat Democrats in the fall, the President is using political appointees in untold ways. The President can criticize Karl Rove and label Karl Rove, but we cannot forget that the Democrat Party and all its affiliates and other political groups get their marching orders and funding from billionaire George Soros.

The Democratic Party has funded other organizations to get out the vote. Our own government funded liberal organizations under the guise of educating the voter and funded political campaigns that targeted past Republican candidates. Remember ACORN, Barack Obama’s favorite organizing group? Remember the scandal of voter fraud? Remember the scandal surrounding housing loans and ACORN? Just follow the money and you will find the truth. You cannot follow the story that you get in the press and from the President. What you will get is a political smoke screen that is designed to deflect and not bring out the truth.

This week, look for this President to expand the enemies list. Last week it was Karl Rove, this week it will certainly not be the new National Security Advisor!

This election - what has happened?

Today, there are new statistics. Before we get to them, I want to briefly say something about what we must do in the next three weeks to ensure a victory for the Conservative and for right tracking our country!

In 25 days, we will send a message to the White House, to the Congress, the Senate, each State House and Governor’s offices across the land. The message will be sent to those who lose and, more importantly, to those who win. The losers will be sent to the dust bin of history. The winners will be elevated as conquering heroes. The only hero here will be the voter and the country at large.

Victory will come in the form of winning in 25 days, but it will be in the form of restoration. It will be the beginning of great pride and the beginning of a great story that started over 250 years ago, when Washington and Adams spoke. It will mirror the days when Jefferson took pen to paper and when all the patriots signed the Declaration of Independence and finally, the Constitution.

You might ask how this election can be compared to the days of our founding. It can’t, but it does give thought as to why our forefathers reserved the right, Constitutionally, to change the country through our vote or through amendment.

Yesterday, I wrote about preserving principles. This election will be the election that preserves the ideals and principles that were laid out in the founding documents. This election will begin to bring the founding principles into our public discourse. This election is the only way we can start to repeal some of the damaging legislation that has threatened the health of our nation.

This election will not be the end. It is only the beginning of an ongoing revolution that started with a few men recognizing what liberty is and what tyranny is. This election will not be the end. It is only the beginning of a few men and women that have been brave enough to start talking about and writing about liberty and tyranny. This election will not be the end, but the beginning of a renewed spirit that has been dormant for nearly a generation.

This election will pave the way for a continued renewal of thoughts and ideas that were expressed to the world through documents that changed history. This election is just that important.

Jefferson wrote to James Madison in 1787: “I hold it that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms are in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellion, indeed, generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people, which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions, as not to discourage them too much. It is medicine necessary for the sound health of government.”

Jefferson said it best in a letter to John Adams, 1821: "I will not believe our labors are lost. I shall not die without a hope that light and liberty are on steady advance."

Great things did not happen in the last four years. What did happen is that a nation woke up to the evils of what government can do, when it becomes to powerful and goes unchecked. It woke up a nation to the fact that 20% of its inhabitants have taken away the rights of the majority so that a few can access those rights without participation in the formula for liberty and freedom.

The new statistics that I referred to earlier backs up today’s FORUM.

According to Gallup the mix of the electorate has moved dramatically to the right. The statistics now show that Liberals are in the minority.

The compellation of numbers clearly demonstrates where the likely voter identifies itself in the upcoming election. The compellation of these numbers tell me that there are voters who are willing to change the course of this government.

These are the numbers and the only way to make the numbers speak is to identify yourself on election day. I wrote last week about choice. It is up to you to ensure a victory. The numbers demonstrate where the electorate is moving. To make this a reality it takes votes. To ensure a conservative victory it will take all of us going to the polls and making sure our friends get there as well.

As I do each week, I end with a quote. This is a quote that you might not have seen before. I think it says it all. I think it says it better than I ever could.

Preservation of principle!

When we speak of the differences between liberals and conservatives, many things come to mind: social programs, fiscal responsibility, responsibility to self and of course there are principles.

Most liberals have principles that they live by. Most conservatives have principles that they live by. But when it comes to politics, principles are often times thrown out the window. We vote because we want our guy to win. We vote because we think the other candidate is either ignorant, stupid or can’t speak well.

I had a conversation with a dear cousin of mine yesterday. My cousin is my favorite among the many. Our conversation drifted to politics and she asked who I would support for president. I gave her my thoughts, but I also said we don’t know who the candidate will be. We then drifted to the question of Sarah Palin. Her remarks were typical: I don’t like the way she talks or her opinions are to extreme. Then I asked what has Sarah Palin ever done to you? Of course, the question could not be answered. But the question drifted to not what she could do to me, but what she would do to the country.

Well, my comment was I would rather have her than the one we have now at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I also said she is the only one that is speaking about liberty and freedom. She is the only one who uses those words. Sarah Palin, in most probability, will not become president. This is either a good thing or a bad thing. It all depends on where you are on the political evolution chart. I will have more on this next week, but the bigger part of the question is: why can’t we vote for someone who is principled and who uses the words of liberty and freedom in a principled way? Say what you will about Sarah Palin, but this is what she does.

The current inhabitant of the White House is not principled, in the way that most of his nation is. He has been led to believe that you must tax the rich, because the rich are what makes the country unjust. The rich are not principled, because they take the wealth out of the society so that they can keep it for themselves. The liberal believes the rich would like to go back to the days of the sweat shops.

When I speak of principles, I also have to include the meaning of principle, in the way of economics. When we speak about liberty and freedom, our forefathers wanted us to have the liberty to invest and the freedom to keep what our investments yield.

My conversation with my cousin also included what a government program is versus a social program. Today there is little difference. However, principles do dictate what politicians do with these programs. For instance, Social Security was never intended to become a retirement benefit. It is now and that is fine. We work and we contribute to a fund that we will get back in structured payments at the time of our retirement. The dollars we invest also go to pay for retirees that retire before we do. This is fine too. This is the good part of the system. We freely give to a program that helps others that might need the help when they retire.

What the unprincipled politician has done is to rob that fund by borrowing against it to fund other programs that they want to spend money on. Most of the time, when this happens, it is because they don’t have the money to pay for a new government/social program or they need money for a pet project that their district needs. It is not a principled thing to borrow from Peter to pay Paul; especially when Paul cannot pay you back. The only way to get the pay back from Paul is to raise the tax on Peter. This is a simple way to illustrate the principles in use in our government today.

Getting back to the Presidents principles; this is not to say he has none, but his are different from his nation, because of his experience and ideology. His ideology is to borrow from Peter to pay Paul, and then persuade Peter to give more through the power of persuasion and if that doesn’t work then he would use the persuasion of power to achieve the ends. This is what government does and this is why it must change.

The Healthcare bill is a great example of this. There is no question that something needs to be done with our present Healthcare system. The Conservative wants to reduce fraud, introduce Tort reform and apply competition with free market principles to the equation. The Liberal wants to create a government bureaucracy to administer healthcare. Their aim is to put insurance companies out of business so that we have no other choice but to join the government program. The program which will determine the health of the nation was passed behind closed doors and was admittedly not read by the politicians who passed it at the midnight hour. Are these the principles we voted for? Other hidden items have come to light. One way the government intends on paying for the plan is through taxes. While the principled one, the president, says there will be no tax increase, he doesn’t tell us that there will be a tax on home sales.

The provision reads: Tax on home sales – “imposes a 3.8% tax on home sales and other real-estate transactions.” Some principled politician or principled aid put this into the legislation. Someone had to because someone voted for it. On a typical $100,000.00 home the tax would be $3,800.00. On a $400,000.00 home the tax would be $15,200.00. This bill is aimed directly at the retiree who will downsize their home at retirement. This tax is aimed at those who will invest in the buying and selling of real estate. The rest of us will just have to pay it!

When we speak of principles, we should use the word in conjunction with confidence. If we don’t have confidence in the principles of our leaders we will preserve the principle of our wealth by not investing. If we lose confidence because of new taxation and hidden costs of new government programs then the rich will not risk there principle wealth to invest which in turn will create jobs. Any economist will say with confidence that job creation is a product of investment and expanding markets. The only jobs that will exist are the jobs that will be available in sweat shops. Wasn’t it the principled values of the liberal that wanted to end the days of the sweat shops?

This is why the leaders in Washington today have no principles. This is why the principled have lost confidence and will not invest there principle in terms of wealth, because the risk is too great. Today the benefits come from holding onto your wealth, instead of creating more wealth and having to pay more tax on that new wealth.

Confidence and principles are very important elements that our leaders just don’t understand. They have been insulated from the real world where wealth is created. Their wealth comes from the programs they create. Their wealth comes from the hard work of American workers. Their wealth comes every two weeks, in the form of a government check that is guaranteed regardless of their principles.

It is up to us to preserve our principles through the ballot box and through holding onto our wealth, instead of making new wealth at this point in our history! This is unfortunate, because those in need are the ones that will suffer.
