A moment in time!

On this date in 1775 British Redcoats evacuated Philadelphia. I wonder if that was what Tony Hayworth the CEO of BP was thinking when he was being grilled by the likes of Henry Waxman and Bart Stupack at the Congressional hearings yesterday over the Gulf Oil spill. I think that Tony kept his traditional British cool and kept his traditional British composure which I think is tradition. However, I was embarrassed by the questions and the tone coming from the committee. Some of these people are in part responsible for the spill because of the various pieces of environmental legislation they had voted for in past sessions of Congress. This is just another reason to vote them out.

If I were Tony Hayworth I would have said the following; we have not only said we have also taken the responsibility of paying for the damages. Your oil spill restoration act of the 90’s say’s we have to, it’s your law. However, you must stipulate that the United States was also at fault. It was your policies that forced us to drill at these depths. And it was in part your fault that the oil has reached your shores. Why did this Administration turn down help from 13 countries 3 days into this spill, you even sent written letters turning down the offers of sending free equipment and the necessary technology that would siphon and clean the site at the source.

Unfortunately I am not Tony Hayworth and I am not the one writing the check. But I wish I could sit in front of these buffoons and ask some questions that would be a moment in time.

Much like everything else with this congress and this administration they put on a good show in the beginning but in the end you walk away wanting so much more. It is day 59 and the oil is still spewing. It is estimated that this well could empty oil into Gulf for four more years if it cannot be stopped. There are no questions being asked why it cannot be stopped and there are no questions being asked of the administration why help was turned down. I believe this is where the real story is and where the plot begins that is aimed at destroying one more industry and creates one more demon. I have no apology for that remark!

Any way it is only a moment in time that has disappeared as quickly as the Congressional members got there 15 minutes of fame.

I am ending this week with a quote by Ronald Reagan. He was man that got to the point and was able to sift through the details maybe this is why he was so successful.

Reagan said: 'Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.'

A footnote: There are 137 days until the midterms. I believe we can make that a moment in time when we evacuate the Democratic Party from the Halls of the U.S. Congress. I know Bart Stupack is gone because he see’s the moment in time coming!
